Welcome to K.B. Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research


The K.B. Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Gandhinagar offers the four year Degree in Pharmacy (B.Pharm.) and two year Master in Pharmacy (M.Pharm.) in Pharmacology specialization, Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Pharmaceutical sciences programmes. The institute admits 60 students for B.Pharm. and 10 for M.Pharm. every year and 7 for Ph.D. at any given instance. The bachelors and masters programmes follow a well defined curriculum in theoretical and practical aspects of pharmaceutical sciences according to the norms and standards of the All India Council of Technical Education. The institute has recently been granted a status of constituent college of Kadi Sarva Vishwavidyalaya a state university formed by state government resolution date 22-5-07.

Institutional Achievements :
K.B. Institute has conducted two AICTE/ISTE sponsored winter schools (STTPs) for the
teachers of pharmacy disciplines :
Emerging Trends in Pharmacology & Toxicology (November, 1999)
-Recent Advances in Phytochemistry and Pharmacology of Herbal drugs (October 2002)
K.B. Institute also organized two National Workshops on Mathematical Modeling of
Pharmacokinetic Data (Nov., 1998) and Pharmacokinetics : Basic Concepts to Applications in Drug Development Research (Sept., 1999) as part of our Continuing Education Programmes for teachers and industrial scientists.
Another Continuing Medical Education (CME) sponsored by the Medical Council of
India in December, 2000.
RESEARCH FACILITY :
Synthesis of new drug molecules and drug intermediates. Alternate procedures to existing synthetic steps in synthesis of drugs can also be developed to improve the cost factor in bulk drug manufacturing.
Conduting Bioassay of drugs like Heparin, Leutinising Hormone, Follicle Stimulating Hormone as per the official standards
Acute, subacute and chronic toxicity studies of new and the existing drugs or drug formulations as per the Schedule ‘Y’.
Pyrogen testing of the drugs by official methods specified in IP,BP and USP.
Screening & Evaluation of drugs.
